MAHTAB KERANSHEH

NOBODY’S INVITING US*

NOTE AND TRANSLATION BY: FARAMARZ SOLEIMANI

In your lowest layers of sediments , o history!
Those chaste closest to each eye,
We become poets and faraway
Under sorrow of sorrows
In the bottom of bottom of
Narratives in vain
Folded by pain
Lonely of lonely.
Nobody’s inviting us.
Years in anniversary of all the days
Day/s…s’s new?
With our back towards
Reversed events
You too sleep calm!
My paces not forwarded went backward
Although we are the tall statures of history!
Let me sing the last song:
In a show of these days
Stone is so solemn.
And nobody’s inviting us!

NOTE :
Well structured in variations, interwoven nuances based on a core: Nobody’s inviting us. But what the poet means is perhaps: Nobody’s reading us. This comes from a breed of poetry, less encountered among a generation of image-less prose poem writers with abundance of raw materials to express personal experiences in the form of confessional poetry, not yet ripe and polished . I see this poem as one of the “happenings” in our poetry.
Is this one of a series of attached poems ,we yet to see the rest of it ? Or just a flair, due to present social events flooding us?
The key and instrumental word is: READING/come close and be with us. It is similar to sand pebbles pouring down to complete and being together to form time. Like a dream, drumming out loud to convey the time. And TIME is what the poet happens to hope for to come with READING. Writing poetry is always being seen to be an invitation, even though NOBODY”S INVITING US.
One more question remains to ask:
Is this a recurrence of Mahtab’s contemplation as: ”I don’t know exactly who I am”
